About This Canary
A warrant canary is a method by which a service provider informs users that it has NOT been served with a secret government subpoena or order. If a provider receives such an order, it may be legally prohibited from disclosing its existence. However, the provider can cease publishing the canary, thereby alerting users through its absence.
